The Martin County Sheriff’s Office recruits for open and new positions as annual budgets allow.  When we have an opening to be filled, we review current applications on file, advertise in the local newspaper, post on our website and utilize other internet methods.

• Certified Law Enforcement Deputy Sheriff - $42,120 (after completion of FTO)
• Certified Corrections Deputy Sheriff - $42,120 (after completion of FTO)
• Non-Certified Corrections Deputy Sheriff
• Crime Scene Technician - $39,409
• 911 Dispatcher - $33,265
• Sheriff’s Service Aid - $31,217
• Food Service Cook (Part-Time)
• School Crossing Guard (Part-Time)

Requirements:
• Physical Agility Test (Law Enforcement & Corrections)
• Must be willing to work shift work, holidays and weekends (all positions)
Crime Scene Technician - Applicants must have a Associates Degree in Crime Scene Technology or related field, supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year previous experience in the field, or a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Crime Scene Technology or related field, supplemented by six (6) months experience in the field. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Recognize, identify, document and collect all physical evidence pertinent to the investigation of a criminal act
- Prepare sketches / diagrams to include dimensions of the scene and to establish location of evidence and relationships of all relevant data.
- Work various hours, including nights, holidays, weekends and on-call status.
- Classify and identify fingerprints, compare fingerprints with computerized ID system and manual prints (Absence qualification or certification relating to fingerprint work, applicant must be willing to train and obtain appropriate qualifications for Latent Fingerprint Examiner.)
- Appear in court as a witness, as needed.
