The Criminal Investigations Division conducted 3907 investigations in 2010. These crimes vary from burglaries, sex crimes, child abuse, etc.
The Major Crimes Unit worked two homicides in 2010. The Burglary Unit investigated 1065 cases of automobile, residential, and commercial burglaries. The Economic Crimes Unit investigated 335 fraud and 335 worthless check cases in 2009.
The Child Abuse Unit investigated 784 cases of alleged or reported child abuse or lewd activity.

This unit continues to strive to protect the children of Martin County. The Computer Crimes Unit monitors and investigates child pornography cases. This unit investigated 70 cases in 2010. These cases range from lewd acts against children to pornographic images of children traded on the internet.
The General Assignment Unit handles death investigations, cases involving grand theft, sexual battery, felony criminal mischief, and all other felonies that occur.
The Juvenile Crimes Unit is responsible for all cases of missing juveniles and serious habitual offenders. They are tasked with monitoring sex offenders/predators in Martin County.
The Forensic Science Unit (Crime Scene) spends numerous hours processing evidence, collecting data, photographing crime scenes, testifying in court, etc. They responded to nearly 390 scenes in 2010 and continue to be on the leading edge of technology in the field of forensics.
