MARTIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

1. RETIREMENT: THE FLORIDA RETIREMENT SYSTEM

MCSO contributes 100%. Employee chooses between (2) FRS Plans. Pension Plan- vesting in 6 years. Investment plan - vesting in 1 year.
Retirees benefits include; Contributions toward Health, Dental and Life Insurance. Percent of benefits determined by years of service.

 

2. HEALTH INSURANCE: BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF FLORIDA - Self Insured Plan.

MCSO contributes 75% of total premium.
Employee pays 25%. The following two Health plans are offer to our employees:

Blue Choice PPO: $500.00 Deductible, (2) per family.
$20.00 Office Visit Co-payment when using PPO.

Blue Option PPO: No Deductible if using a Participating Provider.
$10 CoPay for Family Physician.

$20 CoPay for a Specialist.
Express Scripts Prescription Card Included.

Generic drugs $10.00 Name-brand drugs $20.00   Non Preferred Name Brand $30.00

Mail away plan for approved maintenance drugs, insulin, birth control pills, etc.
(90) Day supply for 2 co-payments.

 

3. DENTAL INSURANCE: DELTA DENTAL - Traditional Plan

MCSO contributes 75% of total premium.
Employee pays 25%.

 

4. LIFE INSURANCE: STANDARD LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY, INC.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office pays 50% of the premium. Term Insurance $20,000 Life and dependant coverage while working full time. Retiree coverage drops to $5,000 and no dependant coverage

 

5. LONG TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE - Yes. Standard Life Insurance Company.
MCSO contributes 100% of the premium for this benefit.

7. UNIFORMS: YES, in required positions.

 

8. DEPARTMENT MCSO members, who are certified Law Enforcement
VEHICLES: Employees assigned County vehicles, are allowed to take the vehicle
to their residence within a 10 mile radius from the Martin County line. This is not a condition
of employment. All other out-of-county personnel must provide transportation to the Sheriff's Office to pick up their MCSO vehicle.

 

9. SICK LEAVE: Eight (8) hours per month + Sick Leave Incentive.
Upon eligibility, the Sick Leave Incentive Plan allows employees to convert earned sick time into vacation or $$.

 

10. VACATION LEAVE: Annual leave will accumulate at a yearly rate based on years of service. Members working in a fulltime capacity will earn leave at a yearly rate. Members with less than five (5) years completed service, receive ten (10) working days per year, etc.

 

11. EDUCATIONAL Yes, including tuition reimbursement program.  Both Sworn and Civilian earn scholastic incentive monies.

 

12. FLORIDA SHEFIFF ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP - Yes. MCSO contributes 100% of the annual membership contribution

 

13. F.I.C.A. IS MATCHED: Yes.

 

14. HOLIDAYS HONORED: Yes. Schedule is distributed each year.

 

15. DIRECT DEPOSIT: Yes.

 

16. SAVINGS PLAN: Yes. Deferred Compensation Companies are payroll deductible. This is a voluntary benefit. We are currently limited to NATIONWIDE and HARTFORD Deferred Compensation Companies. Also, we have (2) credit unions - Gold Coast Federal and the Martin County Credit Union.

 

NOTE: There are many voluntary insurances and plans that are payroll deductible and offered at a group rate that have not been listed. Benefits are reviewed and evaluated often. If you have knowledge of any benefit that you think might be beneficial to the members of this Agency, please supply the information for review and possible consideration to the Human Resources Unit.
