The Warrants Unit is comprised of a Detective Sergeant, four detectives and three warrant/extradition coordinators. This unit works closely with law enforcement agencies throughout the United States for the apprehension of fugitives and is actively involved with Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers, Inc.  In 2011 the Warrants Unit processed 3,215 adult and 272 juvenile warrants or orders for arrest. In 2011 there were 2,645 adult warrants served, which 1,184 were felony warrants and 1,461 were misdemeanor warrants. 258 juvenile warrants were also served in 2011.

This unit is responsible for maintaining the custody and control of all original warrants issued by the courts. The warrant and extradition coordinators are tasked with the entry of all warrants into the FCIC/NCIC system, and yearly validation of each warrant. This unit is also responsible for the handling of all extraditions of fugitives arrested outside the State of Florida who have fled in order to avoid prosecution for crimes committed in Martin County. In 2011, 26 fugitives from Martin County were arrested in various parts of the United States, and 29 fugitives were arrested in Martin County and returned to their demanding states. Each member of the Warrants Unit is a specially deputized member of the United States Marshals Service and participates in the Regional Fugitive Task Force allowing the Detectives to travel outside the jurisdictional boundaries of Martin County in order to facilitate the arrest and return of fugitives wanted for crimes committed in Martin County.
