The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications.  Click on the link “Vacant Positions” which is located at the bottom of this webpage for our current listing of vacant positions.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office employs more than 550 members in various positions, both Sworn and Civilian. The Human Resource Unit is staffed with a Workers’ Compensation Coordinator, Benefit’s Coordinator, and H.R. Technician. The Unit Members are cross-trained and work as a team to provide continuous efficient service to the Agency regardless of any challenges that may arise, such as illness, hurricanes or budget constraints. The Martin County Sheriff's Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The Unit recruits for open and new positions as annual budgets allow.

Due to these circumstances, our recruitment statistics are minimal at this time.

When we have an opening to be filled, we review current applications on file, advertise in the local newspaper and also on our website and other internet methods. Due to Budget constraints we have not been able to, or have a need to actively recruit as in the past.

The Human Resource Unit has diverse responsibilities ranging from Applicant Process that includes administering pre-employment tests, scheduling appointments for interviews, psychological and drug tests. The documents are collected and reviewed for accurateness and authenticity to insure the information given to the Sheriff for review will assist him in making the best hiring decision possible.

Other duties include Workers’ Compensation, Employee Benefits and Retirement Planning. We participate in Collective Bargaining for Civilians and conduct New Hire Orientations. The Unit coordinates Agency events such as Employee Benefit’s Meetings, Retirement Workshops, Health Fairs, Job Fairs, employee recognitions for Years of Service Pin Presentations, Employee of the Quarter Awards Ceremony, Perfect Attendance and Life Saving Awards.
